8.6. C/C++ Development Java isn't the only language that the Eclipse IDE supports. The C/C++ Development Toolkit (CDT) comes with everything you need for C/C++ development except the tool chain itself (i.e., the compiler, linker, and debugger). CDT works with a variety of tools from various embedded systems vendors; for ordinary desktop applications, you can download and use the free gcc compiler and gdb debugger from the GNU project.
